We were never one nation. Ukrainian is not even intelligible to Russians, mostly, so it cannot be called a dialect. Serbs and Croats are different nations even with mutually intelligible languages.
btw, especially for you and our other Ukrainian friends. All distinctions of Ukrainian, Russian and Belorussian languages rather late. Of course we were one nation.
So even though there is NO "internal power struggle" in Donetsk ( as some are trying to present the case,) and both Givi and Motorolla were friends of Zakharchenko, the question I have is how much this whole thing can be attributed to Minsk agreements? Because in this case Zakharchenko himself might be the next target. That is IF he will not agree to betray his people and to accept the "Federalization."
Just a thought. Of course this brings some other thoughts - do the "business partners" of Minsk negotiation table ( i.e. Kiev and Moscow) are coming to amicable agreements behind the scene? And how does the "Trump card" affect it all?
Good questions. I don't know the answers. But I don't think that it's reasonable to kill Givi and Motorola before the attack Ukrainian's forces. Even if they were against federalisation. I think that Russia has the ability to force the Donbass to remain in Ukraine without killing top commanders. It's enough to cut off the resources.

Are you saying we can't understand what your officials are saying during their speeches, using your *regular* Ukrainian language?
No, I understand it just fine.
What we don't understand, are the DIALECTS of the Western provinces, because a lot of roots of the words there are substituted with Polish ( and may be even Hungarian) instead of Russian. But that's already not "Ukrainian language." It's one of its dialects.

No, it's not that easy as it seems.
A. Although neither Givi nor Motorola were politicians, they DID never the less have political weight. They were popular both among the troops and Donbass population alike. They've said on numerous occasions ( I think) that they were defending that land, and it was not going to be "Ukrainian" ever again.
These were people the rest looked up to, and if all of a sudden they'd receive the command to "join Ukraine" it wouldn't sit well either with them, or with soldiers/people who trusted them.
B. If Putin would have decided just to "drop" Donbass all together, this would be a fiasco on his part.
