I know that Russia is a huge country, but there have been many cases of this in the media in the last couple of years. I can't seem to understand why there would be any appeal in this. Is there some cultural influence that is at play here?
No.

In the meantime... Power engineers recorded a historical event — the Crimean power system ceased to be energy-deficient.

"In the morning, with the General development of its own generation of the Crimean Peninsula 542 MW, taking into account the first units of the Tauride, Balaklava TPP and the first stage of the Saka thermal power plant launched in the test mode, the excess capacity of 28 MW was transferred towards the Kuban energy system on the Kuban — Crimea energy bridge, "the Ministry of energy of the Russian Federation reported.

Gay people are persecuted across the whole of Eastern Europe, they are generally racist too.

Russia is 150 nations. It’s pretty hard to be a racist.

Because it's the wrong video . That's how censorship works. But what I mean is law and order ! You can't post the wrong videos ! It's illegal !

I'm just speaking from experience, I don't just mean 'Russia' anyway, I'm talking about Eastern Europe in general. I think its because the population is very homogeneous, its (unfortunately) the way humanity seems to be, its not until you get to know people who are 'different' that you realise that actually they are pretty much 'the same!' I have a gay Polish friend living in the UK who 'fled' Poland because of the problems he had their because of his sexuality. I used to be married to a Croatian woman and when in Zagreb I noticed how most people there were the same 'colour' and also how people tended to be about people of different races.
