Russians do not have a single national idea. People search for it, but it is not successful. The basic idea is very simple: to protect the country from collapse, improve quality of life, raise children. It's very simple. The USSR and the world revolution in the past.

Ironically enough, it's Poroshenko's Ukraine, that reminds more and more of the USSR.

I have call my sister to DPR. She's got zero last month.
No work. She is unempoynent person like a houndred thousands workers. Two ways - or Ukraine (Czech republic or Poland as a next step) or Russia (no way out). Or "rabels" under russian command forces with salary 225 USD per month with possibility death or seriuos injuries from Ukrainian weapon.
My parents got 2000 RUR per month as a pansion from russian government.
Its about 30 USD per month!
Great achievement, isn't!

This is the reason why I hate Russia and wish death in terrible agony! (not for russian people but for russian state) ASAP.

Careful Alec, you are going against the 2019 theme of the Kremlin message: Ukrainians who hate Russia for invading are western nazi's controlled by the West.

Indeed a big problem in Russia's involvement seems to be the economy of Ukraine is growing faster than the Russian occupied territories. The DNR gang promised the opposite would be the case. They will need to rely on further repression and propaganda to tell them Ukraine is horrible where people can't even afford to heat their homes while Donetsk residents are living the best life. I don't think this will be accomplished by posting propaganda links on City Data but it won't stop them from trying. )))

It is not Russian territories. Crimea is Russian territory, but there is a normal quality of life.

Main problem: Russian people are Russian state. And you will inevitably deal with it, and eventually you will begin to hate Russian people. This is a classic development of political emigrant thinking. Very few can avoid it.

Russians: US to launch disinfo campagin in Afghanistan accusing Russia of assisting ISIS.

"In particular, they plan to accuse our country of assisting ISIS, including in the redeployment of their militants from Syria and Iraq to Afghanistan."

Comment by the Information and Press Department on the US

It seems to be a common tactic to accuse the Russians of doing what everyone knows the American forces are doing.

DNR/LNR are Russian controlled territory. The people still living there are watching their region decay into an economic backwater. Factories are literally collapsing, most recently the railway car plant near Alchevsk this week. In 2014 they gave support to the initial "rebellion" based on the mistaken belief that choosing Russia over the West would lead to a better life. The smart and mostly young people left to the rest of Ukraine and are moving on with life.

Crimeans have not seen an improvement to their lives either. At least not the ones I know, even though they are genuinely happy about reunification. They certainly are much more isolated from the rest of the world than they used to be. Prices grew alongside the higher pensions and military salaries. Tourism in Crimea is on the decline, as Crimea had 15% the number of tourists as the Odesa region last year.
