I know the US has upwards of 80,000 veteran troops in the inactive reserves that have great amounts of experience but in the next conventional conflict a ground pounder with his head above ground is going to be dead in very short order. I recently read an article by a retired general in the German army with something like 35 years experience between the East German Army and todays Wehrmacht (both sides) and he says with todays technology and firepower available to either side guarantee the demise of formational and positional warfare. The systems available for striking the opponent are far too devastating.

If you dig in, you will be blasted out. If you gather formations in even company sized groups you will be blown all over the landscape. The key to survuval will be constant movement of small groups of fast highly mobile units operating independently. In short, do the impossible or die.

Russia to test domestic internet disconnect from global web

Russia to disconnect from the internet as part of a planned test

The end goal is for Russian authorities to implement a web traffic filtering system like China's Great Firewall, but also have a fully working country-wide intranet in case the country needs to disconnect.

Its about time. The Kremlin's discomfort with the internet and its associated realities have been made clear for years.

Lima Group was set up to effect regime change in Venezuela.

Quote:
In its founding statement, the Lima Group declared its full support for Venezuela’s National Assembly. On 4 January this year, it upped the ante, stating that if Maduro assumed office for a second term the following week it would consider him a usurper – not coincidentally using the same terminology as the Venezuelan opposition. Two days later, the general secretary of the Organisation of American States, Luis Almagro, effectively started the clock on regime change, citing Guaidó’s ‘important constitutional responsibility to initiate Venezuela’s urgent transition to democracy’.

The US attempted to organize a coup last year in discussions with the military. US coup attempts have been a regular thing for the last 20 years.

So in other words, the Lima group is supporting the democratically elected body in Venezuela. Democracy is "regime change" according to Russia while rigging a fake election is the proper thing to support. The OAS must be "American" led because it abhorrently asks Venezuela's ex president to respect Venezuela's people and constitution.

Everything is backwards in Russia's disinformation world and its a regular thing going back more than 20 years.

They don't have the power to appoint someone a leader. That itself would be undemocratic. That is how constitutional republics operate. A small appointed body actually elects the leader. Because of the outside influence and money, it's referred to as a regime change operation. The sanctions alone are estimated to have cost Venezuela $350 billion. Under those circumstances, there is no standing on the part of the US or its allies in claiming this is for democracy.

In other words, there are two parliaments, one body that was dissolved and consisting of some of the opposition and one consisting of loyalists to Maduro. The constitutional law the National Assembly invoked to recognize Guido doesn't apply since the office of the presidency wasn't vacant and Guido didn't run in the election.

8th of February was the second anniversary of Givi's death.

Gone, but not forgotten both in Donbass and in Russia.
Rest in peace Givi.

To consolidate multiple rebel constituencies - often having their own distinct goals - guys like him were eliminated by Moscow. This avoids the complexities involved in coordinating a negotiated settlement across many different rebel groups.
