Hamburg - for beauty, economic prosperity (it is one of the biggest ports in Europe), and yet a relaxed lifestyle, for the parks, beaches and other places you can be one-on-one with nature and because I have grown up there.
München - for prosperity, for about one of the friendliest populations in the German-speaking world, for the (relative) conservatism and not being afraid to offend anybody, and because, if you get high up here, you can see the distant range of the Alps calling out to you.
Vienna - for the music and for some of the best quality of life anywhere in the world.
German countries as such are one of the best countries where to live and to visit as a tourist I think.
Out of cities I'd say Berlin is the most interesting and Hamburg is interesting too. The most beautiful towns among those where I have been were small old towns in SW part of Germany but they weren't in turn that interesting because of too small and too ''petite bourgeois''. Vienna is of course very beautiful indeed too. Never been to German part of Switzerland and to Munich, though.
in 2015, Vienna is ranked as the best city to live in. I also very much like Hamburg.
Vienna has been ranked as the best city to live in for quite a few years iirc.
I haven't been to any of these cities but I'd love to visit Vienna, Berlin, and Hamburg the most.
And Hallstatt! That town looks jaw-droppingly gorgeous.
