I have a blonde friend from Naples, but I believe she will be suspicious if I ask her what her body hair color is, and I don't want to get into trouble for this forum, I'm sorry.
in the red areas the male average height it's >177cm (5'9.75)
in the yellow area the average height it's between 175cm (5'9) and 177cm (5'9.75)
in the blue part it's between 173cm (5'8) and 175cm (5'9)
in the green part it's lower than 173cm (5'8)
data are refereed to the "coscritti del 2000", that are the guys born in 1982.
So these men are 32 years old today. As for the total population, about 43,678,668 million Italians live in the yellow and red area of the map. This figure is native Italians only and has been decreased due to estimates of non-Italian immigrant population. Italy today has 60,782,668 so lets assume 55,000,000 are actually native Italians. This means 79% of the total Italian population lives in the yellow and red areas of that map. The average height for the blue part is probably 5'8 1/2 and the green part is probably 5'7 1/2.
So lets assume the average height for the now 32 year old men in the green and blue regions is 5'8 1/2.
The average in the red and yellow regions is probably 5'9 1/2 so over all the average height of a 32 year old Italian man in Italy is about 5'9.
About 42-45% of the Italian population lives in the Nothern region alone. It might be even 50% because when I originally added it all up, I over estimated the number of non-Italian immigrants and came up with a figure of 42%.
On here I remember it said on the 2005 study that the average Italian man 18-40 was 5'9 1/2 but someone changed it to 5'8 1/2.
Overall the average Italian man 18-40 is either 5'9 or 5'9 1/2.
The average younger Italian men 18-30 is either 5'10 or 5'10 1/2.
Italian men are not short like they are stereotyped as, the reason this stereotype exists is because Southern Italian men are shorter and over all the average southern Italian man is only about 5'8 or 5'8 3/4 but the total South Italian population in the shortest regions alone (Sardinia, Calabria, Sicily) only accounts for 8,370,000 people which is 15% of the Italian population.

Look, italians are renowned for being short all around the world. No big deal but here in the US Italians are just short. End of story. No big deal
I don't know what do you consider "tall" and "short", but Italians in Italy are not all short. Some guys are short, some are tall and some are average, as everywhere else.
All the bad stereotypes of Italy came from Southern regions.
I believe those Italian-Americans living in the Northeast corner of the country mostly have ancestors from Campania, Calabria, and Sicilia.
Anyways the general Italians are very cool people in mind, and of course physically attractive too.
My Italian Grandfather was 5-4. All the grandchildren (males) are 6+. Its the diet, high in carbohydrates low in protein. My understanding is the traditional Italian diet is not meat oriented, but pasta, bread, cheese focused. Meat eaten once or twice a month. Now, that was back in my Grandfathers day, not sure what it is now in Italy. Also, I'm referring to southern Italy not Northern.
