My husband and I discussed moving to these two countries once I get my EU paperwork finished to get my citizenship. Economy wise and job wise how are these two countries? We're planning to move from United states, but we don't know how healthy the countries are in terms of lifestyles, jobs, schools, medical, etc.
Has anyone lived in these two countries before? Last time I lived in Romania it was 1992-1994, a lot has changed in 20 years.
It would depend on your professions, and your interests. Do you speak Spanish and Romanian?
Used to be fluent in Romanian, now not so much, but planning to take basic Romanian classes before the move.
My husband on the other hand is fluent in Mexican Spanish... not Spain Spanish so it helps a bit?
Hubby will go into Physics/Engineering probably and I'll be an Accountant.
We're actually planning to start our own business eventually abroad.
Spain, as I hear Romania is now very expensive and not a safe country. I know an American of Romanian ancestry with lots of funds to invest, he skipped Romania and went to Bulgaria.
Personally, I wouldn't move to Romania except when the job offer is exceptionally good.
Seems like you don't have any jobs in Europe at all so my advice would be to look for something BEFORE you move and make your decision based on the offers.
Yes, he's the consort of EEC member. Only needs to apply in police station.
Depends on the country in which they want to settle.
For Austria the husband would have to know some German before getting a "Niederlassungsbewilligung – Angehöriger" (residence permit for relatives) and OP would have to sign a "Haftungserklärung" (guarantee statement), for which they would need sufficient health insurance, housing and a steady income.
Romania and Spain may have similar rules in place (I'm almost certain...).

Me neither. I'm tempted to say something nasty, but I'll refrain. All I'm saying is that this is a "would you rather move to Austria or Yemen" -question.
Romania is so great that their citizens come here and dig our dumpsters.
