Slovakia: Eastern Europe or Central Europe, and why? (Polish, culture, citizen)

Every map I look at places Slovenia, Poland, Czech Republic, and Hungary into Eastern Europe.

I suppose that geographically it's Eastern Europe.

Why is that a big deal ? Do some people preffer to be called Center Europeans as opposed to Eastern Europeans ?

In Slovakia, at least, the only correct (and used term) seems to be "Central Europe". I never hear about "Eastern Europe" in reference to our country (in Slovak). I'm not sure about the use in English, but Wikipedia has "Central Europe".

In countries like Poland, the Czech Republic or Slovakia the term Central Europe is used and will continue to be used, Western Europeans and others can call us what they want...

There is a geographical debate and that debate can be stetted with a definition from a dictionary.

Is Poland really Central Europe ? That is hard to believe.

I think poles have more in common with western europeans

poles: latin alphabet, catholic culture, western values.... closer to western europeans than they to their orthodox, Cyrillic writing eastern mindset russian neighbors.... have u been to poland?

I have never perceived Poles as friendly to me people to give em any regard.

so basically the world should be labelled according to how you perceive the world to be? not how the world perceives itself
