Why Is The Suicide Rate So High In Finland? (German, climate, cons)

The suicide rate is unusually high in Finland. Why? Is it because of economics? Weather? Society? What makes the suicide rate higher than other developed countries and other Nordic countries?

It's not really significantly higher than elsewhere.

Probably because of the same reasons as in Belgium, France and Austria. All four have similar suicide rates.

The climate and boredom I'd say

Endless Cold dark winters

Cold/unfriendly society

Very high rate of alcoholism

Desctruction of traditional roles for men

Boredom/isolation

Closed minded society

Very high rate of prescription drug use (anti-depressants)

Climate and boredom can mean there isn't much to do also

Maybe they drink alot to pass the time

Why is the suicide rate lower in Sweden then?

Cold and unfriendly according to whom?

High rate of alcoholism compared to who? Germany? Spain?

Isolation from what?

Close-minded in what?

Very high rate of anti-depressant descriptions compared to what? The rest of Western Europe?

We consume alcohol quite the European average. And the suicide rate isn't even especially high to much of Europe.
