And the ultimate irony is that you're Austrian, which is probably the perfect example of a country taking no responsibility for defense, and no acknowledgement of past conflict. I'm not sure if there's a country on earth that better represents my point. Austria doesn't even need a military, or even foreign policy, for that matter. It's security is 100% assured. Austria is rich specifically because of its location, its perceived lack of culpability after WW2, and the security blanket of the postwar western alliance.

Right beause "mandatory military service" is somehow linked to a country doing its fair share in terms of collective defense.
I am a German citizen, BTW, which had mandatory military service until relatively recently. It has absolutely nothing to do with Germany's relative commitment to global security.
