Namibia was at a point in time a German colony, interestingly enough most Germans don't even know Namibia was at a point in time their colony!
it was the playing ground for the German government to practice and perfect the task of effectively exterminating large numbers of people in little time
it took Germany over 100 years to apologize to Namibia... only a few years ago was a representative of the German government dignified enough to visit Namibia and apologize in the name of the German people.
I feel sorry they did such a half ass job with it. They should have filled that paradise with iPhones, fashion wear, suburbia, autobahns, parking lots, and big box stores.

Deutsch-Südwestafrika was a German colony for about 30 years which ended 100 years ago. All German colonies only lasted about the same time, and therefore had no lasting effect on German history or awareness. You will find many Germans in Namibia, all robotic and cold as we all are.
It was only 20 years not really a colony in the traditional sense, if you look how France or the U.K. imposed language, law and many other things on their colonies over a much longer period.
That's.probably why there's only little known about this. Yes, probably over 90% couldn't tell you it used to be a colony. The U.K. and France had colonies until the 1960's and 1970's and not 1914.
From what I understand they never officially apologized, because that could legally be taken as an admission of guilt and open the doors to lawsuits. I think that's why no other country officially ever apologized. Note the word "official".

BTW, your headline is incorrect, but quite in line with your anti-German/European campaign.
If you refer to the Herero tribe, it would be about right. However, 100 or 130 years ago, Namibia's population did not consist of Hereros alone, but many other tribes, most of which were not affected. If you have other figures please let me know.
Is there a lot of resentment about that, from locals? It seems like there would have to be...
