Why do you consider Poland and the Czech Republic Western? Do you feel they have more in common with Germany and France than with their kindred states to the east and south? I'm not saying you're wrong, but I've always thought Eastern Europe = Slavs + associated peoples.
Slovenes and Czechs are the most "westernised" among the slavic peoples(culture, habits, etc. close to Germanic peoples), Poland and Hungary have preserved more of their eastern European roots, altough got intensily westernised too since the Middle Ages, part of Romania got westernised (Transsylvania) in part because of German and Austrian colonisation, but other parts haven't. One can say Romanians should be western because they speak a Latin language. However during many centuries the most parts of Romania has been ruled by non-western powers and peoples, and got tremendously influenced by them. (especially Slavic influence) Bulgarians have never been western, their culture is a mix of Slavic, Greek and Turkish, and distinctly Balcanic. Albanians too can hardly be called western, altough a part is roman-catholic. Turkish influence on Albania was tremendous.
You just have to listen to folk music to understand which peoples are close to the West and which aren't.
Is the Eurasian Union perhaps a better deal than the EU's?
No way, that would be a disaster and after what happened with Ukraine, people have understood that Russia is a shameless imperialist state and nobody will be as naive anymore to think they will be safe under the Russian "protection".
I'm not anti-Western, I'm for a sort of political (but not economical) unity with Western countries because of sentimental reasons mainly. But would be good for everybody if we leave the "Western values" and look for something healthier. Maybe is time for the WE to reinvent itself.
Eastern Europe will not only achieve western levels of prosperity
but it will surpass them
as the decades pass, the political and economic centre of Europe will keep moving eastward
By the early 2050s Eastern Europe will rival Western Europe in Political and economic power
and by the 2060s it will surpass it
If you want a future European power, look no further than Poland
which will in the years to come become the regional leader of Eastern Europe
It won't be Russia who will be the major power in Eastern Europe, it will be the nations which were dominated by them in the late 20th century
by the 2040s I envision a very close alliance or bloc between eastern European nations, led by Poland that covers both economic and security matters
I also envision a weak Russia which Is heavily influenced by this polish led bloc and a divided Ukraine and Belarus, borders in eastern Europe will change and Poland will regain it's lost territories as Ukraine and Belarus slip further into chaos and Russia continues to weaken
Picture a Poland stretching from the Baltic to the Black sea with a population of over 100,000,000 people
and an economy to rival Germany, leading a confident assertive and economically booming collation of eastern European states under it's wing
right now in 2015 it may seem like a fantasy
but by 2060, Eastern Europe will be more important than Western Europe and more unified, both economically and militantly

Maybe Poland will become economically a very strong state, yet the dream about a country that would include Belarus and Ukraine (especially Ukraine) will not gonna happen. At least not on their free will.
It is really sad to see that there are some polish people that have this imperialistic attitude. Poles are mad about what Russia is doing or what Germany used to do, yet they promote the very same ideas... Hopefully such kind of people are a minority.

Ukraine and Belarus would be better off as a part of Poland
these 2 countries are going to descend into chaos in the coming years, they are poor, undeveloped and have internal conflicts which will only get worse
these countries will not be opposed to joining Poland, they will want to
they will want the stability and better economy
obviously both countries wont just be absorbed at once, it will take decades to fully absorb and integrate both states
by the late 2020s, Ukraine and Belarus wouldn't stop polish expansion, they would want to be part of a stable nation with a booming economy
But I believe that Poland could expand further than that
after Russia weakens and descends into internal chaos like Ukraine and Belarus, Poland will annex Kaliningrad, but with the support of the local Russian population
In the future the Baltic states might also peacefully join this new Poland, because of their rapidly declining and small populations and tiny economies they would be better off under a bigger nation
Poland has historically been this large in the past, it might be possible again
If things continue to go as they are now, with Russia weakening and Ukraine falling into internal chaos
even during the Interwar era in the 1920s to 1930s
Poland had plans for a 'resurrected' commonwealth
Józef Piłsudski's strategic goal was to resurrect an updated, quasi-democratic, form of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, while working for the disintegration of the Russian Empire, and later the Soviet Union, into its ethnic constituents.[27] (The latter was his Prometheist project.)[27] Piłsudski saw an Intermarium federation as a counterweight to Russian and German imperialism.
I firmly believe that by the late 2050s
we will see a Poland with control of Ukraine, Belarus, Kaliningrad, some areas of European Russia (including st.Petersburg) and possibly the Baltic states

noone in Belarus or Ukraine wants to join Poland. And even if they would, Russia would never allow that.
With the support of the local population? roflol
I think you're on drugs or something...

Russia protects Russian people living in Ukraine, nothing "shameful imperialist" about that.
Countries which look for something healthier can join Russia, the only alternative to western powers. Why do you think values in Eastern Europe are different? It's because of communism and Russian infuence.

In Belarus, we don't have any internal chaos or conflicts. And I think most people would not like to be a part of Poland. Maybe some minority would agree, but it is definitely not a popular idea.
Part of the population would like to be a member of the EU, but a part of Poland? No..
