Hello,
I'm new here and I would like to introduce you to my city: Bordeaux
First I'll start by quoting from wikipedia
Quote:
With a population of 1,200,000 inhabitants in the Bordeaux-Arcachon-Libourne metropolitan area, the fifth metropolitan area in France is known to be the world's wine industry capital, and it is considered Europe's main military space and aeronautics research and construction complex. Bordeaux wine draws its name from the city around which it has been produced since the 8th century. The historic part of the city is on the UNESCO World Heritage List as "an outstanding urban and architectural ensemble" of the 18th century.

Finally if you have questions do not hestitate to ask

Hello Bordeaux, Welcome to City-Data,

I have spent some time in your part of France, and lived for a short time in Paris. I must say those weeks south were some of the most pleasant and positively memorable ones I had whilst in France.

I am also very partial to the wine and wish it was more affordable here in the States.

Salut, Bordeaux!

Do the citizens of Bordeaux get many tourists? Are they friendly to the tourists? Do many people speak English? I'd love to visit France one day (my second language is French) but I'm contrary and don't want to visit Paris like everyone else.

Wow! Nice pics. I wish I had pics of my trip to post, but this was pre-digital camera. Maybe I could dig some out and have them converted.

I flew to Paris and took the TGV (??) to Lyon, then off to Le Sauze Super Sauze to ski for 4 days! Then back to Lyon for a baguette, some coffee, crepes, and other cuisine-then off to Geneva to buy a watch (Swiss Military).

I spent the last week in Paris to do all the Paris stuff. It was a blast.

When I was in Lyon, there were two rivers I believe. Help me here Bordeaux; Le Rhone and La Rhine? Please forgive my spelling, and of course-my French!

Salut Bordeaux!

Those pictures are lovely - it looks incredibly clean! Assuming the city didn't have a special tidy-up for your photos I'm going to presume it's always like that! How?? My city is lovely in so many ways but the litter is always there. The council always seem to be sending road sweepers around but people just don't seem to care, it makes me furious.

Default LOVE Bordeaux

I spent a summer travelling in France and Bordeaux was one of my favorite areas. I especially loved the time I spent at nearby St. Emilion. It is a breathtaking medieval village with exceptional wine.

Also loved the beaches on the Atlantic Coast. I still laugh when I think of the completely nude french man carrying a tray of patisseries he was selling on the beach. We Americans thought it was such a funny image.

In Paris, they have crews that come out in the early hours of the morning to hose down sidewalks and pick up litter. Paris was surprisingly clean in some areas.

Those Bordeaux pics are great! I spent a few weeks in Paris and Nice and I think France has some beautiful and varied scenery!
