I'm an American and went there in 2001 just after Sept 11. There were no Americans there (that's a good thing) and most people didn't even know where it was on a map.

Time to find another secret--that's one of the fun things about travel.
I am amazed at how people will flock to just one trendy spot in a country, when there are so many off-the-beaten-path hideyholes that are just as interesting, if not more so.
I will be visiting Croatia this coming summer, in June and July. We will be on a cruise touring the Mediterranean. We will port at Dubrovnik and Split, and will port in other countries as well. I've seen beautiful pictures from there and can't wait to visit!
Planning a trip to Croatia in either 2009 or 2010. Have known about Croatia since I was about 6 years old. Family is from Bosnia.
