And so, I am ready for a eleven-day trip to Europe for a Christmas market. Any recommendations of a city which is safe for a Asian girl? This will be a solo trip, well it has always been, and I have heard enough praises of Germany about its Christmas markets. I totally understand that I should visit but if I had visited the best Christmas markets, I might just shrugged off other cities in future. Any ideas, people?

Cologne, Dresden or Nuremberg are 3 of the best. Cologne being the largest and Dresden/Nuremberg being the oldest. Can't really go wrong with any of them.

since you're talking about germany, try the one in strasbourg (france) -- not sure there is any christmas market... in the summer there though.

How about Liechtenstein or Austria? Thinking of travelling to Munich and go down in a south-east direction. Are people over there friendly with tourists? Is it fun? Or perhaps I should head to Ireland since pound is pretty affordable these days?

I went to the Christmas market in Vienna two years ago and it was amazing. Lots of food and drinks throughout the city and not many tourists since many go to Germany. Have you considered Italy? Bolzano has an amazing market that I've been to for the last few years. It's close to Austria so has lots of German/Italian influence.

Austrians are perfectly used to tourists and there are some pretty good Christmas markets in both Vienna and Salzburg.

I can personally vouch for the ones at Karlsplatz, Spittelberg and Altes AKH. Avoid the one at Rathausplatz since it's the most touristy one and lacks "Gemütlichkeit". At Museumsquartier they usually have an "alternative" christmas market with electronic music.

As for Ireland, they use Euros

Cool. Which cities do you find it most "Gemütlichkeit"? How about Hamburg? Do you think it will bore me?
