Austria already had an election, VdB won and the result was overturned by a court, because of formal reasons that didn't effect the outcome. In November (October?) we tried to have a re-election, but couldn't because the envelops for people voting abroad were broken. Now we have to vote again in December.

Frankly, the president's power is very limited and dependent on both the parliament and the current government.
If "wanna-be Trump" decides to get rid of the current government, it wouldn't really matter since it's only the extended arm of the current parliament, which - in return - is able to impeach the president.
Hans Kelsen and the other guys who drafted our constitution were not complete idiots in this regard. He is not an almighty entity with unlimited powers that hasn't been discovered until now. Hofer's personal opinion on his future job, which he isn't shy about sharing with the public, doesn't matter in this regard.
Also, the Daily Express? Really? I recommend to read some real news.
