I'd say that the German-speaking parts of Switzerland and Luxembourg are most similar to Germany. For the sake of the survey, I'm going with Luxembourg.
Czech Republic is close in terms of cuisine and drinking habits, Czechs are the only people that drink more beer than Germans. But I don't think it's the most similar country, but more similar than Poland.
But I have read that Poland and Czech Republic are the only countries except Germany and Austria where "Gartenzwerge" are common. This is a Gartenzwerg:
