Seriously? In the US, those were blown up in the 70's, and replaced with complexes of much smaller buildings, typically two stories, after it was found that the huge, impersonal apt. blocs encouraged crime.
Correct. I think we made a mistake, no doubt there was crime in some of the projects but in others there was not. Good and bad. Where the rubber meets the road our current standards are not serving us well. We need to do more with less and tell real estate magnates to screw off.

I kid you not. The elevator for the skybridge at Seattle Tacoma International airport (a MAJOR airhub on the west coast) has been down for 5 weeks. People trying to cross Hgwy 99 are forced to use 4 flights of stairs to go up and down. 4 floors. It's either that or get raped by a cab.
In 2012 Seattle metro invested 36 million in rebuilding the escalators in the system. During any given week up to 25% of them will be down for repairs.
This is not the way things should function. Its screwed up.
