Just came back from Paris. The tourist spots are clean, BUT where my hotel was around the Opera ... dismal, wayyy to much grime. The worst is the metro which is disastrous compare to the London underground. London wins this one guys, London is a CLEAN city indeed , especially public transport! The stations in Paris are rugged and need desperate work, unlike St Pancras which is beautiful!
I live in Paris and I have to say I find the city dirty when I compare Paris to the cities in the north (Rennes, Nantes, Caen) and I find it clean when I compare to the cities in the south of France (Marseille, Toulouse, Bordeaux).
I've noticed the same thing. Paris is clean for a city its size, though.
Overall, clean. My 90 year old parisienne grand-mother-in-law says that she has never seen Paris so clean. Look at photos of Paris in the 60's and the city was black with pollution!
Now, the city REQUIRES owners to clean the facades of their buildings. All historical cities should have that.
For the most part I thought Paris was a clean city. Though there are some dirtier parts(which is typical of a large metropolitan city)I loved Paris though! can't wait to go back
Well , i think it depends on which city u go , the tourist cities gonna be much cleaner , but in general France And Europe much cleaner from the US ! !
I have to agree with Paris undeground. I found Berlin, London and Prague subways are much more clean and prettier overall too. Paris just like any other big city is both, clean and dirty, depends where you look lol
I saw a report about public urination laws being enforced now since it has gotten so bad. The stains on the walls, doors, etc. have eroded the the paint from what they said. Tickets are being handed out by walking patrol cops. There are public potty stations that are located around town, but many still don't use them.
I believe the report was on NBC, but looks like the WSJ also did a report. Check out the door in the video! Also, my father was there a few years ago and actually saw a man defecate in the park.
