My family and I are planning on renting a holiday apartment in Berlin. The description says it is in a nice area called "Prenzlauer-Berg" Of course I don't readily trust advertisements, so I just wanted to ask, if there are any Berliners (or people who know of Berlin) if it is indeed a nice area?
Is it an expensive district? We're really try to plan this vacation thoroughly. The listing we saw said it it is Stargarder street, in the district mentioned.

It's a very trendy area with lots of cafes, shops, bars and young people. Somewhat bohemian and "alternative" which may or may not appeal to you...though it is fairly gentrified. If you are familiar with NYC think Park Slope or Soho and you will be on the right track. There are a lot of young families around there as well and it is very safe.
I wouldn't consider it expensive, at least not compared to areas such as Mitte or Charlottenburg which tend to be more upscale.
