I'm planning a trip to Stockholm in the middle of next year and was wondering about any place or activity or event...anything in general, basically, that I should visit/do/see/etc. while I'm there. I was never there before and was hoping that some locals or those who are more familiar with the area could point me in the right direction, both in terms of major attractions, and little things that most tourists would not know about.

Thanks in advance.

*City Hall
*The Vasa museum
*The Gröna Lund tivoli
*The Kaknäs tower
*The Skansen zoo and heritage museum

If you are going in the summer I will recommend a sightseeing by boat.

Thanks! I've already had a few of those places in mind. And that link is great.

And I am, in fact, going in the summer.

@ BigSwede:
Years ago, there was an *unofficial* organisation, called *Sweden At Home*.
Is that still there, or something similar ?

You could meet Swedish families and spend time with them, I remember.

To the OP, if you go in summer, prepare for very short nights ....... .....

That's above the arctic circle about 2000 km from Stockholm.

It takes less than 2 hours by air and around 4 hours by train. I don't remember how long it took us with our Swedish host cause I slept most of the way.

Yikes, something does not add up here.
2000 km in 4 hours ?

OTOH, I thought Stockholm was approx 1000 km below the arctic circle ?
Oh well, too long ago .....

16 hours by train and 90 minutes by plane.
2000 km is a little exaggerated, but definitely around 1500 km.
