I live in Europe and i don't think euro teens look older. They dress better, and they are more serious- in usa they all wear baggy pants and hoody shirts until they are 25 ( some longer-lol).
I mean there is no reason that they would look different- isnt life for teens pretty much same for example in new york and in paris?

maybe its because they smoke more?
british find gay jokes hilarious?

you know, british humour is regarded as very unique and most people i know (i dont live in britan) find it childish and stupid, so stereotyping european humour based on some british show you once saw, would be a huge mistake.

just cause we like to drink and party, doesnt mean we are more childish than you. it just means we know how to let loose and have a great time at the end of a stressfull week.

hmm let me guess... you think we smoke more weed just because it is legal in The Netherlands, right? I actually think that US citizens smoke more, as you have mexico as your closest neighbour..

one thing i found weird last summer when i was in NYC (great city btw) was that i did not see any kids walking around in the streets. in any big european city, you will see tons of children (teens) walking around in the streets (often in groups), window shopping, eating or just hanging about and talking. in the US however, i did not spot ONE kid (kid being under 18 years of age) in the streets.. not in new york, san francisco or los angeles.

it was a weird experience. where are all the kids? why does it seem like they are all sitting isolated at their home? Kids contribute to giving cities more soul and making them more vibrant, IMO.

also, often when i watch american TV shows the ones who are supposed to be 18 year old, look like 14 year olds to me, so judging by that we do look a heck of a lot older, yeah. its also been proven that americans have a generally lower IQ, and europeans do generally much better at national tests so i find it only natural to assume that european teens are more mature, as well. it would not surprise me one bit if this turned out to be the case.

The face of American teens is not that of European teens; we have huge numbers of teens in gangs wearing 'colors' to half naked girls parading around in low cut tops and cut off jeans. Our teens look very immature and cultist.

One observation from living in London is that food is very expensive and everyone gets lots of exercise walking because driving is next to impossible; that in itself would make European teens look older because they are not fat and lazy.

why on earth would you base all the teens of europe on one city?

its impossible to drive around in new york city, too - you guys still have 73 million obese people living in your nation.

we are known to be generally slimmer, yes, but i doubt it is due to it being impossible to drive around here.. in london, maybe, but here is the thing.. there are actually other cities and places in europe than london (and paris) no, i am not lying.

id say its because very few people over here make fast/fat food into their daily food-intake, as we are thought that pretty much anything good is bad from we are little.

americans, however, do not seem to have this mindset. Ive never seen as packed macdonaldses as when i went to the US last year. over here, macdonalds is somewhere you go if you need to hurry and eat something before, say, an appointment.

Thanks for the stereotype, we do so well appreciate it, because I'm sure you've seen every single teenager in our country and you are so well informed.

hey, ive heard about you guys: people in the US who have ancestors from norway and therefore love this place, right? hahah maybe you are not one of them, but my mom told me that when she visited the US 20 years ago, and went to states like minnesota and wisconsin, everyone loved her because she was from norway (some even asked if they could touch her!!)

i come from Bergen. it's pretty close to stavanger, and i know ive been to stavanger a few times (but it was ages ago, so i really cant remember anything except for some statues of naked people on a beach and an aqua park!!)

haha i sure do love kjøttkaker and risengrynsgrøt i also love rømmegrøt, though it makes you want to throw up if you eat too much do you speak norwegian? i read on wikipedia that there are over a million people in the US who speak norwegian!!

And you've been all over the US?
Why on earth would you base your view of all Americans on one visit?

no, its been proved

as in, people around the globe have been IQ-tested.

it's a known fact. it's not like i base my views of americans on that, anyway.

(i generally think americans are great!! new york is my favourite city ever, and youre much less conservative than us which makes it all alot more fun! i love walking down the street and suddenly have a random talk to you )

ever heard of national tests? they are tests that students all around the world take, and the result is used to show which country has the ebst school system. well, as i recall, the US (and surprisingly germany) scored below pretty much all of the other developed countries.

two visits. all in all, ive spent nearly a month there.

all i said is that americans do not seem to have the same mindset as europeans. and the thing about the macdonaldses over there being packed is a fact. i saw it with my own eyes!! it might have something do with san francisco and new york both having about the same population as my country though so obviously there is going to be more people.. it was just an observation, though!!

i read bokmål i think most people who live in the cities read bokmål, but we are forced into learning nynorsk in school (no one really likes it!!)

i once even sent a letter to the newspaper explaining how stupid it was to waste hours and hours in school every year learning nynorsk..
