Have you just googled "living in malta" and followed up on those links. There are a lot of them, even one by a whiny ex-pat who should probably go back home...lots of stuff.
Mdina is very nice but expansive. We are planning to buy house of character. And from what I see the houses in Mdina way out of our price range. So, we need a house of character not more than $200.000-$250.000, close to all amenities and nice views. Is it possible?
Thanks!
That's a hard combination anywhere! Not more than 250K with good views, filled with character, etc.
Or are there places in Europe that that is possible? I don't know, maybe coastal Portugal? Not sure, just curious myself though.
^Southern Italy given the recent house market devaluation but it won't last long and renewals would probably still most likely needed in the cheaper houses. I still think you can purchase a large house with amenities and lovely views at €200-220k especially when going off the beaten tracks
I think it is virtually impossible to buy a home in Mdina, they are usally passed down to future generations & any that do rarely come on the market are incredibly expensive... Not that I would want to live there anyway as it is always filled with tourists & I'd find it very claustrophobic with the narrow little streets...
It is possible to get an apartment with nice sea views for relatively little here, but if you want a house, especially with character & nice views, then you are looking at stupid money...
1. This isn't really that much of a con but you must invest at least 114k Euro on a property and must be able to have and income stream of at least 1k Euro per month to live there.
This applies to non-Europeans? I guess Europeans can just go, right? But a non-European would have to invest? If that is the case, that is a relatively low investment compared to other countries.
