If I were you, I'd choose France. France is more interesting, more variety, nicer weather in general and more things to see. Just stay away from Paris and big cities.

France is the biggest country in Europe, three to four different climates, best food, best wines, a wide variety of landscapes, architectural heritage only suspassed by Italy, etc, etc.

But it depends of the areas (parts of Brittany or Normandy are cooler than the londonian basin in summer, parts of eastern France can be colder than NW Germany in winter).

Yes, I do agree that French food is overrated, but it is still way better than British food.
British food and restaurants are often underrated. Each time I went in Britain, I've found simple and not pretentious food, with a good welcome. A bit expansive though.
