ever notice when there is a HEAT WAVE and temperatures go above 100 there is always some person out jogging during the hottest part of the day? it looks like they are doing this on purpose to try and work their body harder to burn off the fat or something?
this doesnt seem like it's good for your body because the poor air quality and heat stress on your body.
Im talking about areas that get really hot [not SF]
Some people just like running. They might like the heat, or maybe there is a certain time of the day that works best for them. We have people jogging in the winter here too.
I enjoy working out a lot more when its hot. I think in my case, its just a mental thing though where I feel like I worked out harder. My garage is unfinished/not insulated so it gets upward of 115-120 degrees in the summer. I LOVE doing my workouts in there at that time. It reminds me of an old boxing gym I used to go to when I was a kid - super hot with only fans running.

Ive done that before, it's not that bad because after your workout you know you can go cool off in the shower right after your workout
it feels nice to get a good workout then shower right after
They can acclimate. These are people who probably run every day and they have been running as it has been getting hotter. You can acclimate to hot weather; many do. And they are aware of warning signs of over-exertion already.
I personally think they're nuts, but everyone has their own heat/cold thresholds. I'd rather be out in 20 degrees and snow than in 85 degrees with matching humidity.

Ditto that! If you want to run/cycle/swim or whatever outdoors X number of days a week, then you need to acclimatize yourself to the weather outside. As the logo says, "Just do it." Some people prefer to do these activities outdoors as opposed to on a treadmill.
For me, about 90 degrees is my limit for running outdoors. Excessive heat is harder on the body and decreases performance compared to training in moderate temps.
Back in the old days, football teams in the south purposely trained in the heat thinking they would be acclimated and have an advantage over teams coming in from the north that were not used to the heat. It really never panned out and that is why you don't see NFL teams doing training camp in hot conditions to "toughen up" anymore. There is no benefit to training in the heat. Only drawbacks.
That being said, if somebody actually enjoys training in the heat, go for it. Whatever gets you going is a good thing.
