Let's hypothetically say over the next 6 months I will work out, eat well, and sleep well.

Now let's say all conditions from above stay the same except I introduce a few Diet sodas in to my meal plan throughout the day.

What will that mean over the course of that time period? Is diet soda enough of a variable to throw my body fat % of by 1 or 2 points, or will the diet soda and the artificial sugar do x, y, z to me?

I am just curious. I am embarking on a disciplined program for the next 6 months. I have no problem cutting candy and junk food out, but diet soda is my one weakness.

Thank you for your help.

For what it's worth, I lost 5 pounds just by drinking diet soda instead of regular soda, but I am a soda junkie. YMMV.

First of all, I love diet soda. LOVE it.

Next, I think it inhibits weight loss. Darn it. If I replace diet soda with unsweetened tea, I lose every time. If I replace it with unsweetened mint tea, I lose even more.

YMMV but this phenomenon, while purely anecdotal, has been remarked on by quite a few people.

Lets hypothetically say over the next 6 months, I want to quit smoking. Now lets say that over the course of the next 6 months, I have ZERO cigarettes. Instead, I will smoke a couple of cigars per day along with a couple of bowls on my pipe. Will I be able to break my nicotine/smoking habit?

This is the same thing pretty much as what you are doing. If you want to get healthy, workout, eat well, sleep well, etc. why even bother with drinking something that is so bad for your body? Just dont have it in your home and it'll be easy to NOT drink it.

after a month of not drinking it, you won't even think about it. i drank a lot of soda when i was younger, decided to stop five years ago. I drink it occasionally now, maybe five times a year. hope you use a straw because soda is also bad for your teeth, really bad.

I drink diet soda all the time and am in extremely good health. My body fat % is 3-5%. I've maintained it there drinking 2 diet sodas per day and the next year only having 1 diet soda every other day. I didn't see any change. I've started using the Splenda the last 2 years and still have not seen a change even as I get older.

Diet soda will also hydrate you pretty well. I'd recommend it 100% over a sports drink.

Diet soda is full of crap and artificial sweetner. How anybody could enjoy that chemical taste is beyond me. I quit drinking coke. It was really hard but now I don't crave it anymore. Has done nothing to help the wieght loss though.

Is this a joke? You can't honestly say drinking diet soda is better than a sports drink? If your body fat is indeed 3-5% and you're drinking diet soda 2x a time that's good to know. Thanks.

i highly doubt your BF% is between 3-5%... BBers barely get down to 3% man- i dont think you maintain 3% and if you miraculously do it's not because you drink 2 diet sodas per day.
