Default A Tale of Two Creatine Powders

They both have about 2000 grams of powder. That is where the similarity ends.

Optimum Nutrition:
400 servings at 5 grams/serving

Twinlab:
20 servings at 7.5 grams/serving of creatine monohydrate
2.5 grams/serving of creatine magnesium chelate

The Twinlab has other stuff including:taurine, l-arginine, cinnamon bark extract, and carbohydrates with some protein (6g). Claims to do some fancy insulin stuff.

Quite the difference in servings/container: 400 vs 20.

Twinlab Creatine Nitrate3 Fuel: 1920 grams/20 servings per container----------about $20

Optimum Nutrition Creatine Powder: 2000 grams/400 servings per container--------I forgot price

To be fair, the Optimum serving gives you 5 grams of creatine vs 10 grams with Twinlab. But I'm not sure that 10 grams is necessary.

400 servings vs 20 servings..........perhaps Twinlab ought to call their product something else?

looks like one is a creatine powder while the other is a pre-workout product.
most people will the get most for their money without the fancy formulas and whatnot and should go for creatine powder.

I like the PWOs personally, the NOs make my bicepveins come out nicely...but the effect on training is negligable compared to just using creatine.

i see there are a lot of sugars/carbs in the twinlab product. reminds me of products like cell tech and phosphagen which put together creatine and sugar which was supposed to help deliver the product into the muscles better. nowadays, that thought process seems to have gone away and creatine is just sold pure and cheap. i dont think its nearly as popular these days though. i havent taken a creatine supplement in a long long time and i think the last one i took was called creapure.

Optimum Nutrition Creatine Powder 2000 gm from FitnessONE Performance Nutrition Superstore about $35
plain Creatine Monohydrate 5 gm

Creatine Nitrate3 Fuel® | Twinlab about $55
Creatine Monohydrate 7.5 gm + some carbs and minerals

^^^ I agree - lots of sugars in the TwinLab stuff

You might want to check and compare here:

Least I got a good price on the Twinlab stuff. $55 for 20 servings is high. Optimum Nutrition would be less than ten cents/serving I think.

To make it taste better you could just add a serving of Optimum to any other of your favorite pre-workout products or fitness drinks

Here is a nice comparison:

especially when you consider the limited potential benefit. you are better off putting the optimum nutrition stuff in some juice if you want to have a similar sugar effect (not that i think it has any). i just used to add the creapure to my protein drink.

i feel i need to keep my per workout costs low because im in it for the long haul and no single product is going to make tremendous differences so id rather spend about 40 cents a serving on a protein drink than $2.50 a serving on a creatine/sugar drink.
