You might want to try either Optimum Nutrition 100% whey or Now brand whey protein isolate. Either would be an excellent choice.

And I'm glad you both posted the brand. When CaptainNJ first posted

I so was thinking "now" like the word, not like the brand. I don't suppose whey helps comprehension

And, it's also good for your immune system, which can be weakened by activity such as weight training. Whey is a great choice!
Weight training DOES NOT weaken the immune system, it actually strengthens it. It allows you to recover faster from illness/injury. Where did you get this from? It's no disrespect intended. Whey Protein, in addition to my regimen/nutrition has definitely helped me keep that shredded/cut look. I buy my Whey from Vitamin Shoppe and sometimes Bodybuilding.com (I have an account with them)

I've been taking whey protein for years. It's one of the few supplements out there that actually does what it claims.

Actually, the whey is almost certainly helping. There was a study that just came out recently showing that subjects on moderate carb diets lost equal amounts of weight compared to their counterparts on ketogenic diets once they increased their protein intake to the same levels as those on the keto diets.

Whey is pretty much my standard choice in protein. One needs to note though, that not all whey protein is equal. I prefer Optimum Nutrition Whey and Muscle-Tech whey. ON tastes much better though. Whey is my standard post workout drink. I also have a bit of it mixed with casein protein pre-workout.
You know my opinion on MuscleTech's crap, but ON makes a good protein. The EAS whey in the 5lb bags at Sam's Club is a good choice for those on a budget and TrueProtein.com has just about every kind of protein you could ever want.

Yeah, I agree with Lao. Whey isn't really so much of a fat-burner, unless you think of it an a sort of indirect thing: as in the protein is giving you a bit of an energy boost which in turn allows you to exercise harder and thus burn off that belly fat.
Also, it could very well be that maybe you're drinking those protein shakes in lieu of meals with more fat and carbos in them? Thus: the clean diet and your exercise regimen are combining to give you great results.
Whey can be greatly benificial in assisting in building lean muscle mass. But the main misconception about it is that, almost everday someone asks me, "If I take this stuff (holding up a can of whey) I'll get big, right?"
Well.....no. You gotta work at it and combine it with exercise to near exhaustion, at least 4 times a week.

There are however studies showing that whey can help increase insulin sensitivity which can help with fat.
