I really enjoyed the Yoga workout during P90x and I was extremely skeptical. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to find a good yoga "workout" either on-line or on DVD.

I travel a lot for work and taking a class would be too challenging not to mention too embarassing!

There are some really good yoga vids/routines on Youtube - lookup Kathryn Budig, Dashama, or shakti flow. I strongly encourage you to find time to take some classes in person to learn the basics though. This is VERY important so as to prevent injuries.

I got these a zillion years ago. Once you've done a few classes for basic technique, these are perfect:
Amazon.com: The Yoga Deck: 50 Poses & Meditations for Body, Mind, & Spirit (0765145028899): Olivia Miller: Books

Thanks for the info!

I will suck up my pride and take a couple of beginner classes. I need to make sure there is a no laughing rule!

Enjoy!
lol, okay then-I'm going to sign up for a class & see how it goes; good point that everyone when they start something is a newbie

Ability to get into certain positions? I dont think so because my 3 year old can do certain yoga movements/positions that I cant do and she only has a few months of yoga "training".

Once it gets "easy" you have to push yourself to do more. For example, I like do 20 Sun Salutation A, then 20 Sun Salutation B in the mornings before my cardio run. Before, I could/would only do 10 of each, so when I "improved" (i.e., my fitness level improved) I increased the number to 15, then 20. Soon, if morning time permits, I'll increase it to 25 of each. For a lot of people, 5 Sun Salutation A and B would be a "vigorous workout" and it is because it is STRENGTH BUILDING. Many probably couldnt even do one without altering the movements a bit but that is okay.

Just continue to practice and continue to push yourself and the benefits will continue to grow.
Good points here; maybe "good" was the wrong word. I just want to be confident that I'm doing it right. And you are right- once I do get better I will be pushing myself to learn more & grow I get bored with the same workouts/moves too often...

Oh, and I did that Bikram yoga for a while. Holy crap!

This.

Oh yes I also knocked yoga until I actually tried it and I was sweating buckets

It is a true workout with both cardio and strength benefits as well as the flexibility. Not to mention the mind-body aspect and the stress reducing effects it has.

I took my first yoga class seven months ago. Needed something to help combat a very stressful time and while I had always used more vigorous exercise to keep in shape and deal with stress I realized I wanted to rebuild from the inside out. Yoga is good for that, I found.

I'm in the "not in front of the tv" group. Nothing wrong with stretching out while watching your favorite show, but what I find best and most beneficial about yoga is the combination of focus and breathing. When I am drawing in the breath, letting it fill my body, reaching and holding a pose, when I really embrace that and give into it, it feels amazing.

In my classes, nobody laughs. It's not about being as good as the other people on their yoga mats. It's all about you. You and your mat and the breath and the flow and the energy.

I'm the same way- I could not do it in front of t.v. or even listening to music. Something really cool about being in the moment, focusing on the moves, etc. I think a t.v. would be too distracting.

And I'm glad you related the class experience; I'm even more pumped up to start classes

Yay for you! Just remember not to force any position. Be gentle with yourself. And enjoy!
