Early rising is tough there is no better way to start the day. 3x a week i am in the gym by 4 am. Yes its tiresomesome but it helps by going to bed earlier which i do
It also helps people like me who have trouble sleeping and are never tired before bed. Kicks my butt just enough to get me exhausted around 10PM.
Kidding, but as this is only a recent problem for my body, I'm not ready to throw the towel in and go to bed at 9:30. Isn't this what old people do that eat dinner at 4:30? I just have stuff to do until about 9pm when the kids are finally in bed and then my husband wants my time too.
So you are tired but you don't want to "throw in the towel" and get more sleep because old people go to bed before 10?
Has your routine changed from before? I agree it is easier to go to bed when it's cold outside.
I have noticed that I'm getting tired earlier and have fallen asleep as early at 6 or 7 (once while the tv was on and another time just sitting in conversation with my husband) This is only recently though.
I go to bed between 10:00 and 11ish and am up by 5:15 to hit the gym before 6; 5:30 if I'm lucky. I've only started having a hard time getting up within the past month or so but it's really messing me up big time. I have been on this early schedule for a year on and off (If my husband's travelling I have to wait until the kids were in school to go to the gym, but I would still wake at my regular time) Also, I've had to use my alarm clock to wake up whereas in the less recent months I'd wake up naturally around 5am.
I'm wondering if the summer sun is messing me up as it stays light now till just past 8pm. I hate feeling so tired in the early evenings. Granted, I've got a lot of stress--who doesn't--and no dramatic changes happening either. Diet is excellent and I take a good variety of vitamins as well. Any suggestions or thoughts as to what's going on?
I don't, in no small part because I don't wake up at 5:15 to "hit the gym."
Sleep deprivation is undoing all your efforts to exercise and eat well. You need to allot 8 hours per day. You can get by with less once in a while but not all the time. Consider this, if you are falling asleep talking or watching TV, are you REALLY safe driving? Are you doing your best at work?
Adequate sleep is every bit as important as diet and exercise. I remember a study not too long ago that said the first thing you should do to lose weight is get enough sleep. I was a long time shift worker and it's true... I did eat extra to stay awake. The study had a lot to say about new moms trying to lose the 'baby fat'. They all had one thing in common, sleep deprivation.
To make any diet and exercise program work, long term, it has to fit in to your life.
This is really easy, the body demands 6 to 8 hours of rest. Otherwise it hurts your ability to think, exercise, etc. I require 7 hours, without it i am very moody. Even 6.5 hours is not enough for me. You have to find your required resting time. Test yourself to find the match. If u wake up too groggy and guzzling coffee then thats a sign to add add more time to your sleep. Keep testing until you find it. It took me a little while to realize 7 is my number
Kidding, but as this is only a recent problem for my body, I'm not ready to throw the towel in and go to bed at 9:30. Isn't this what old people do that eat dinner at 4:30? I just have stuff to do until about 9pm when the kids are finally in bed and then my husband wants my time too.
That is why I do not wake up at 4:30, hit the gym at 5:30 am and rush off to work before 8 am. I would need to be in bed by 8:00 assuming it takes 30 minutes to fall asleep. That would suck. I work out in the evenings after dinner.
