How long did it take you to get from where you were (out of shape) to now?

Roughly a year with some month long breaks in between. I plan on coninuing to do these workouts going forward, so im not that result oriented, since i know the rewsults are pretty much guaranteed. To be perfectly honest, i havent done a single workout in order to improve the way i look, but being more fit, healthy, happy and more confident were always my main goals. I used to have a real bad cholesterol and high blood pressur eprior, and after 1 round of p90x and proper nutrition, both were at ideal levels and have remained there. That for me is the real difference.

I need to get back to the weights though...desperately!

My husband has done the program as well but he was already pretty fit to begin with. He didn't do it according to their program either. He plays hockey twice a week so he used those days as his cardio instead of doing Kempo and Plyo.
Yeah, you know, there are a million ways to get fit and no one way is better than the other, if the end result is the same. Some ride a bicycle, some jog, some run marathons, some go to the gym and some do p90x or some other workout program at home. FWIW, yogaX2(only 60 minutes), plyocide X2 and a handful of other workouts in the p90x2 program are far superior to same workouts in the original p90x set. Having both, I mix and match em based on what i need to work on and which workouts are more effective. It works really well this way.

That's not bad considering your results.

Sorry for all the questions, but what is your nutrition program?

For the first round or two, i followed the p90x nurition portion plan, lvl II IIRC. Since then ive pretty much gotten a pretty good handle on overall nutrition, so im eating clean, healthy, lotsa raw foods, veggies, fruits, with occasional steak dinner, pizza, burgers - whatever i feel like at the moment. Probably around 90% of my meals are fairly healthy, with very little to no sugar, sodium or sat fat - with the other 10% helping to stimulate my metabolism and being less healthy, thus harder to process. No strict calorie counts, portions or protein/carb/fat ratios or anything like that.

PS. i would be more than happy to answer any questions, however many you may have. If I can help even a single person on their journey to becoming more fit, it would be more than worth it.

I don't want to completely derail your thread. Just curious about your routine. I don't think I've ever seen anyone get those kind of results in such a relatively short period of time. Im a little jealous, I admit.

In the beginning, i stuck to the p90x schedule pretty strictly, because i wanted to find out how effective the program was. As of now i workout 5 times a week, about an hour a day. Current schedule
M - Chest and Back X
T - Plyocide X2
W - Shoulders and Arms X2
TH - Yoga X2
F - Legs and back/Back and biceps X

Also do ab ripper x2 M,W,F - so its basical resistance, cardio alternated throughout the week, while taking the weekend off. I change these programs once a month to take advanage of muscle confusion, but stick with this general outline.

Sounds like a lot of work to me.

Congrats on your health, you deserve it if you're doing all that.

Thanks. Wish there was a magic pill, that could get you from point A to B, but tis really just good old fashioned hard work and sound nutrition. I still look forward to my workout each day, it doesnt feel like a chore whatsoever. Cheers!

Nice job on the results! I'm starting P90X today and I wanted to know: are you supposed to push yourself as much as possible or do as much as you can so you have energy left to do the other exercises?
