Default Distractions at the gym.

What are the most common distractions you face in the gym regularly? For me it is noise and excessive movement. I am probably and oddball because I am one of those few guys who gets distracted easily by anything. People talking next to me, making different noises and walking either in front or behind me completely throws me off and kills my focus. Wearing headphones is not my thing, however music in the background is not a problem at all. Does anyone else here experience the same issue?

My biggest distraction is when people drop their weights on the ground. The weight room is on the second floor, so when someone drops them not only can I hear it over my headphones but I can feel the vibration on my feet.

My other annoyance is when people rack or take weights from a station that I am on WHILE I AM LIFTING. There is nothing more irritating and detrimental to my focus when I am bench pressing than seeing some dude's face suddenly pop up in front of me as they are getting plates or putting them back. Can't you wait until I am done?

Which of course, leads me to people who try to start a conversation with me AS I AM ACTUALLY LIFTING! I have no problem with someone trying to tell me something or ask me a question, but please wait until I am resting to do so!

Loud grunting.

People lounging on the equipment, or blocking the aisles as they socialize.

Loud cell phone conversations.

People hovering over me waiting for me to get done with my sets because they want to use the machine next. Drives me nuts.

I can pretty much block out everything but stinky, funky people.

Seriously - there have been people who were so smelly, no one (including me) would use the equipement around them. One gym I used to g to - there was always a line of people waiting for elipticals.... except the machine to the left and right of this one guy. People would get on a machine, workout for a few mins and then get off and back into the waiting line....

Took the words right out of my mouth. That and the guy who's using 3 different machines simutaniously and looks at you like you're wrong when you jump on one of the machines he's using!

Ohhh I love those guys. I tell them too bad. This isn't your personal gym and to get in line after me.
