My husband, kids and I were talking about motivation to work out HARD. It turns out my husband and daughter LIKE hard workouts. They enjoy the sweat and pain at the time they are doing it. I wish! I like the idea of the benefits of things like boot camps and cross fit. But at the time I am doing it, all I can think of is OMG make it stop! I love things like Zumba. But really it is not that hard of a work out for someone who is remotely fit-ish.
So anyone have any thoughts on how to motivate myself to strive?
The way it worked for me is that you slowly progress into heavier workouts which in turn make the initial workouts seem trivial. When I was in soccer, we had a 2 week conditioning course in which each and every day started out with a 2mile. You could stop running them once you reached a time of 12:00 minutes. Anyway, after the first 3 or 4 days, those 2 miles seemed like nothing.
Now obviously I wouldn't expect you to progress like that, I was in high school and fit already. But if you start off with a 30 minute workout per day and slowly progress to doing more and more, your body should adapt and you will be longing for that "burn" again. Just an idea, all people are different.

Make it fun for you. I have no idea what's fun for you, though. Maybe work out with a friend, or with music you love, in a place you enjoy visiting, etc.
If you think everything around it is much boring such for brasilians music like pagode, after hear or dancing with you will be able to have good mood and motivation for many things.I do that when I have work stress and so on.
