I love Pilates for it's overall fitness. It keeps the ol' body in alignment which is hard to do otherwise. Yoga also helps in front of a mirror. I was going to sell my Pilates today, but got on it and changed my mind.

I am trying to lose about 15 lbs. In addition to the pilates I should increase the time I do cardio. I usually do the elliptical for 30 minutes but I will try to increase it to 45-60. I currently weight train twice a week, but I dont have a particular routine. If I add an extra day of lifting weight does anybody know if I should target specific muscle groups each day or do a whole body routine each day?
My old cowoker was a body builder and also told me that diet is 80% of weight loss. To me it is a lot easier to increase my workout than improve my diet. My goal is to stay under 1600 calories a day but the calories I do eat doesnt necessarily come from healthy food. When I was in college I stuck to a low fat balanced diet and it worked. But I am having a hard time getting back that discipline.

How about adding two pieces of fruit to your daily diet? That should help fill you up and reduce your craving for unhealthy foods.

I've always thought anything that makes you move more than you used to would eventually cause some weight loss. Doing any kind of exercise is better than spending that time on the sofa eating chips.
We all start exercise from a different place. For some, Pilates is an aerobic workout. It CAN be an aerobic workout for many of us.

I have lost 23 lbs since June. I eat my dinner in the morning (anything I want) and then fruit or veggies the rest of the day. I do this Mon-Fri. On weekends I eat whatever, but do not go overboard. I haven't started the exercise part yet, but I am only 14 lbs away from my year end goal. Maybe this diet plan would work for you too. Good luck!
