Up to an hour, 2 or 3 times a week. I do most of my daily cardio outside of the gym. And I do some stretching exercises at home.

I know trainers and ex-body builders who all say that more than an hour is either a waste of time or a lack of efficiency.

Exactly. I agree. On leg day, I know I can't get through the pre-programmed hour workout, BUT at least I go and do it. I could just stay home & eat chips & watch TV

40 to 45 max. HIIT early mornings and weight training in the afternoon.

Did a high rep squat routine last year of doing 3-5 sets of 10 reps, increasing the weight on each set. Then for fun every other week or so do one set of 20 to finish off. To keep things interesting only use 25 lb and 45 lb plates, that way you don't have to think too much. Adding in rest between sets the routine should not take more than 15-20 minutes. If you do it right your legs should feel like jello and there is no need for any other leg work.

Add some pressing, some pullups and you are out of the gym in 45 minutes. Have to agree that if you are in the gym longer than an hour something is wrong. Maybe twice a year if the weather is really crappy I will do a 90 minute strength endurance routine from Gym Jones or Mountain Athlete to spice things up.

Ha it was similar with the "how much do you save" thread over in the Personal Finance section. Just about everyone who was posting there was bringing in well over 10k per month or had millions in assets. Despite working a 50k/year job

Keep in mind the demographic that sticks around these sections. If you go to a fitness forum like this, most people will be very big into fitness and their responses won't be representative of your typical gym rat.
