Just finished a 26 mile BWCA wilderness canoe camping adventure! Lots of paddling beautiful lakes, portraying 40 lb packs over rough terrain, pumping and filtering all my water, hanging and hoisting a food barrel in camp for each meal, finding firewood, bushwhacking through wild forest, no phone , car, or internet for six days. Totally exhausted and yet invigorated and freaking alive in the senses! Now its back to reality lol.
Had a good workout today. For some reason, I really do well workout wise after a "cheat day". Maybe the extra calories from the night before being readily available to burn helps? I knocked cardio out of the park, increased my run speed on the treadmill, and lifting was good. Tried the bench press using barbell and plates. I have to say though that dumbbells are a tad harder, just because each arm is on its own vs. the barbell where one can compensate for the other to hoist it up. Did wide grip. It was good, it's nice to change things up a bit.
Yesterday I swam for the first time in a long time, and possibly due to a mobility issue I had some pain in my right shoulder. Which I aggravated today doing overhead press and bench press.
THEN...I somehow managed to pull a muscle in my neck while setting up for the bench press, and the pain got so bad that I had to cut out facepulls and cut short my hanging knee raises. Sucks, hopefully heals up in time for tomorrow's workout.
And here I was all proud that I started off the day with both a lower body and upper body mobility routine...
Good job I need to bust out a similar ride while the weather is still nice before Fall/time change.
