I would argue that point that high intensity training came before crossfit.

Also, crossfit is generally the combination of strength sports (olympic lifting, powerlifting, strongman).

High intensity training prior to the popularity of the CF name was generally anaerobic type exercises at high frequency (intensity) and little rest.

Most people don't see high rep olympic lifting to be beneficial in any way (as in, it is not as efficient or effective as other movements).
