I agree, but doctors are influential people and maybe hearing a doctor's frank words might motivate some obese people to do something about it. We all have to start somewhere... I was 20-30 pounds overweight from 17 to 20/21 and I wanted to lose it, but I was clueless about fitness and proper nutrition at the time. Fortunately all I had to do was cut back on junk food.

Me too, my brother in law does it all time. In fact, he lost his driver's license because of it. He's still drinking...every damn chance he gets.

Hate to be negative, but if you believe obesity is an addiction, or disease, as strong as alcoholism, consider this. Doctors haven't made many inroads against alcoholism that I've seen. Certainly you can argue against that. There have been a lot of people break free of alcohol although maybe not the addiction. But I've seen an awful lot who didn't. Maybe because they didn't try. I dunno.
