BTW, its Dad and NOT dead.

As spring approaches, a lawn mower and trimmer keeps him active .

If he's not fat, outa shape and unhealthy then why do you want him to go to the gym? Not everyone needs to have a body like Chris Hemsworth.

Good bit of advice there.

I was just thinking about this, and it's not just down to the tools, but the place for using them in, or on.

I've lost a load of weight just lately, just clearing scrub on the place I'm living now. I don't actually look better for it though. I've worn out a few tools too.

Any idea how I can motivate him?

i have the same issue with my wife. she's petite, not overweight at all, but also not toned and not "healthy". The best thing to start with is family walks. Then pick up the pace a little and turn it into a brisk walk. then add some other activities - like you said, biking, or hiking. anything to get the heart pumping. safe actual workouts for further down the road if he starts getting into the health(ier) lifestyle.

take him to dance class. maybe it's more enjoyable than boring workouts. or go biking in summer, swimming in nature. Gyms are boring.

I agree that the key is to find a fun form of exercise that will fit in well with your current budget and circumstances. But its really hard, if not impossible, to find what's really FUN for someone else. They have to do that for themselves and then resolve to stick with it. So probably the best thing is to set a good example by engaging in your own sort of 'fun' activities and then extend the invitation for him to join you without any pressure when tyne opportunity arises.

Feed him well and make love often. He'll do anything for you. (men are very basic creatures)

Set up bar. For every pound loss, he gets a special 'treat'

For every pants size drop, he gets to do .... with you whatever way he wants

If he gets really buff....think threes company.

Truly, that would really motivate him!!!!
