This month I've been really concentrating on working out almost every day and eating as best as I can. I've been restricting my calories and trying to cut out junk as much as possible. But every few days, it seems like my stomach gets bloated and sticks out. I really don't drink that much diet soda at home anymore, but I am a big fan of the Sparkling Ice waters. Has anyone every had those? It contains a lot of vitamins, but I'm not sure if it's causing bloating or not. It's carbonated and contains sucrose, ester gum and some other ingredients I can't pronounce.

I know that drinking plain old water is the best thing, but I've never been good at drinking water every day. It just tastes so boring to me. Would adding lemon help?

Are tea and coffee okay to drink every day? Do they cause bloating? I always put Splenda in them. Is that bad?

I like to add lemon/lime juice to my water bottle to add some flavoring. Then I'll make a big pitcher of lightly sweetened tea and mix it 50/50 with water to make it last longer. Tea and coffee are fine in moderation.

As for your stomach bloating, it is most likely caused by something you're eating or drinking. It could be anything you're consuming. Some people have trouble with dairy, others with fruit, etc. The only way to know for sure is to note what you ate that day and whether you were bloated.

It could be a host of things causing the bloating. Did this recently happen or has it been an ongoing thing?

Since I'm in no doc, you may want to see one if it gets bad.

Whey protein is often responsible for bloating. Do you have an any issues consuming dairy? That can also cause bloating.

Splenda is the freaking devil! At least for me, anyway. I am apparently sensitive to it, if ingest over a certain amount of sucralose (splenda), I get a SEVERE attack of stomach cramps and bloating, and it lasts for hours before it lets up. It's much more painful than a typical upset stomach/diarrhea-type event, and I considered going to the hospital. Fortunately, I figured out my sucralose sensitivity after only 2 episodes. Once after eating a bowl of sugar free ice cream with splenda, and another time eating too many breath mints with splenda. Same excact symptoms each time. I avoid anything with Splenda like the plague.

You might be less sensitive to it, but maybe it contributes to your bloating? Who knows. It's worth a try. Switch to a different sweetner or just sugar. See if it helps. Aspartame is garbage too, but it DOES NOT affect me like sucralose does, no matter how much I ingest.

Are you eating a lot of wheat? It's possible you have a gluten intolerance. Try going gluten free or about a month, and see if it makes a difference. If you're like most people, it probably won't make any difference, but it never hurts to try.
Personally, I feel bloated if I eat a lot of food containing wheat, but if it's just one slice of toast or something, I'm fine.

How old are you? Everyone reaches a point in their life at which "middle-age spread" occurs. It's when a number of factors all gang up on you, and you can't defeat them all.

Are you sure it's the stommach swelling?
many times a stommach pointing outward is a result of a tense posture, as the back and abdominals can become unbalanced, especially if you have recently made major changes to your work out habits/activity in your lifestyle.
for example hip flexors connect to the back and is a major culprit in pulling people backs like a "C" extending sigmoidalically towards the neck (like an "S"), causing the stommach to point outwards to a larger degree than normal.

It takes about 10 seconds to check this, take your shirt off go stand in front of a mirror with your side towards the mirror.
If you find that you are not your natural self do something in front of the mirror, eat a carrot and listen to the radio for a minute and then look again, once ur body is standing relaxed.

If you find this to be the problem you need to add more stretching of glutes, hamstrings, hip flexors, back and abdominal muscles.

If it is swelling, also try cutting out milk products, if you are lactose intolerant and consume milk you would get swelling as well due to the the carbondioxide production from intestinal bacteria when consuming the carbs you can't consume yourself.
