I found this article on Drudge Report. I found it interesting. Maybe some of you might find it helpful to get motivated or help someone else get motivated.
I had a "Ratatouille moment" looking at the pic accompanying the article. Didnt know McDonalds still uses styrofoam containers for their burgers. Reminded me of when I was a little kid got to eat McDonalds.
I think smoking is worse for you, having smoked for years.
Inactivity is bad, but it seems manageable bad if one wants to make some effort to compensate for it, whereas smoking just plain screws you up and there is nothing you can do about it but stop.
As far as the headline - all things being equal, no attempt to manage anything? Maybe inactivity is worse in such a case, I don't know. Too many variables I would guess, for a truly controlled and viable study.

Well I guess I will die sitting on my hind end in my recliner,
or at the chair for hours on the internet, or on my golf cart riding around much of the day.
I made my living sitting on my hind end driving trucks,
and running heavy equipment and cranes.
Never got into exercise, and I'm getting read to turn 66 in December,
If the lack of exercise and doing nothing but relaxing on R and R doesn't kill me first.
Kings: I tend to agree. Yes, some folks do die young from smoking as a result of heart attacks, but a surprising number of people do live long lives, even though they smoked all their life. I know one guy that recently died, had smoked all his life and lived to his mid 90's.
It would be interesting to see studies on which is worse. I seems like I read one that obesity, a by product of inactivity, is worse than smoking, but I cannot site it. It seems to be true in my observations.
