So if you have to time your walking/jogging every few seconds, how do you do that? I can't imagine having to fumble with my phone that whole time and it's often hard to see out in the sun, etc. ?
I tried it and I thought it was annoying trying to time the stopping and starting. I just started running for as long as I could and then stopping to walk when I couldn't run anymore and that worked for me. Works just as well for me.
Download the app - it will cue you through the entire workout. I started with that app, and worked up to running a solid 7 miles! (I had never run any kind of distance, not even a mile, before I started with that app)
Keeping time is one thing...If someone told me I had to look at a watch to start and stop speed increments in 30 second to 1:30 intervals, I'd say forget it. I have to concentrate too much on my form to be holding up a watch and staring at it while I run. I'd probably trip and fall down, and take out anyone else nearby...

Well, know your limits. People have been doing that exact thing for decades, though. I actually do that exact thing (in 40/20 increments) on a bike.
