Which martial art is the correct to begin with and why?
Maybe yoga is better suited for you?

Your wanting to know the history and all is a bit odd; you can find all that out on your own. You do not need to fork over $150 a month for someone to tell you about the history of whatever. It really sounds like you want a yoga class that you kick and punch in. Sure, maybe there are a few that do this, but are they quality schools? I do not know much outside muay thai and BJJ.
I think you have watched some movies or something and picture some temple with some old kung foo types running around, then everyone meditates while reaching to their inner self and become grand masters at the art.
You can always arrange for private sessions or talk with people before/after class.
How long did you train BJJ? Was it under someone with a legitimate lineage?
It sounds like either you have either never trained or trained with a fake black belt.
Any school I have ever been to does not address that stuff at all, they are there for competing, not going over things you can easily find online. People do not pay top dollar to listen to someone blab on about history, they pay top dollar to get top training in order to compete if they desire to do so.
All of my belts has lineage back to Carlos Gracie. Not one single school I have ever been to has set all of us happy campers down and went over some forbidden temple, sacred teachings of the elders stuff. These schools are straight competitor schools as all top ones are.
Interesting then, considering that you have supposedly trained with both Rickson and Ryron and don't seem to have picked up the history of BJJ from them. Also interesting that you have supposedly trained with Rickson and have not picked up his whole mental and spiritual approach to BJJ.
Also, interesting that you think BJJ, which has a long history of no rules challenge matches is what "works in a controlled sport environment."
BJJ is a controlled environment. There are rules; have you not ever competed or even taken a BJJ class? Top schools are all oriented towards competing.
In BJJ there is no striking, slamming, eye poking, etc. That is a controlled environment, those are rules.

Thanks for the advice but I am not sure you quite understand where I am coming from.
has nothing to do with any movie watching or whatever you may think. No one is looking to become some master expert in the art. Education is only as good as it teacher. Sure I can google all day long, what does that teach me?
The Bushido has a lot to do with it... Someone that understands and appreciates that aspect could see where I am coming from. I like to take things further than surface.

Clearly you have no clue about what Bjj is supposed to be.
Do some research on the old Vale tudo matches in Brazil and the Gracie no rules challenge matches.
