I drink the shakes at work with a granola bar for lunch. I have a 30 minute lunch, and that's all I have time for. When I get home, I eat a balanced dinner. It has nothing to do with not having time to be healthy. I don't work in an office, and don't have a leisurely hour lunch break.

I'm just looking for something to replace the sandwich that I eat for lunch. I'm just going to buy the shakes in the bottles, and forget about the protein powder.

I don't use protein powders but just tried a new item that adds a fair bit of protein to milk, as well as adding fiber, and is low-fat and low-carb: Santa Cruz Organic Peanut Powder with Milled Chia Seeds. The name of it IS the entire ingredient list.

Nutritional info:

3 tablespoons is 70 calories, 3 g unsaturated fat, no saturated or trans fat, no cholesterol, no sodium, 5 g carbohydrates of which 1 g is sugars and 2 g is dietary fiber, and 6 g protein.

Just as important, it tasted good (like peanuts but milder) when mixed into my milk and unsweetened cereal, Uncle Sam Original Wheat Berry Flakes, which has 9 g protein and 10 g dietary fiber in a 3/4 cup, 210 calorie serving. Add about 2/3 cup of whole milk and the three parts together offer 20 g protein and 12 g fiber, in a tasty, crunchy concoction for under 400 calories.

The peanut powder is billed as being for use in smoothies but you could use it in many other things, too. The bag has a recipe for hummus, and I would like to try it in oatmeal or hot cocoa. Could be added to vegetarian soups for more protein.

I hope the store I bought it from continues to sell it, because it would be a good ingredient to have for backcountry camping meals. It is very lightweight, and it does not need to be refrigerated.

Not sure why so many people recommended whey protein shakes to you. Whey protein is great but it is a poor choice for a meal replacement shake due to it's quick digestion speed.

You want a casein protein instead. I've used both Optimum Nutrition and BodyTech (Vitamin Shoppe's house brand) with great results.

Isopure Zero Carb.

Almost all people but professional body builders and get too many carbs in their diet.

And I get that, but everyone here is making poor recommendations given the context of the OP's question.

OP wanted the best protein for meal replacement. Everyone provided what they use and works for them.(works for me for years.) It was not to question the selections proferred by others as did one poster who never comes into this forum. You are a regular and so the passive condescension in your post is out of character.

I did not research the other brands offered to conclude they were "poor". Do not care. I know what angle you are coming from but the point is minor whether fact acting or slow acting. I give the OP enough[and everyone else here] credit to control his/her appetite when electing a liquid meal.
