The goal of strength training isn't to burn calories; it's to make you stronger so you can build muscle and reduce fat, thereby burning more calories all the time because your body is leaner than before. Cardio is designed to burn calories. And 350 calories burned in a strength training session is still pretty impressive, so your trainer sounds like a good one.

Regardless of what I do outside of my sessions, how do I talk to her about getting more out of these sessions. We often spent so much time waiting on the other person to do the deadlifts or squats or whatever, I feel like I spend more time standing around than working..
Every morning get 20 oz hot water and walk 2 miles for 30 days. .You can lose upto 20 lbs..Then hit the gym and get fit. This practice is tried and tested in the East.

Sure. Wait for Pfizer or Abbott to officially announce it in 2050 after patenting it..

It took until year 2000 for the scientific community to realise turmeric has antiseptic properties( and of course patent it) , which was has been there for 1000 years or more in the East.

Till then keep burning..

Heavy lifting has a ton of physical benefits, but done properly is never going to be a super high calorie burning workout because of the required periods of rest in between sets.

Thank you. Your post made the most sense to me. I'll continue to supplement my training with high intensity workouts to get the additional calories burned.

I'm in a group training sessions.i push myself as hard as I can but at times I'm literally standing around waiting for someone to be done with the equipment needed...only but so much I can do.

Weight training is more efficient in burning calories than cardio, but a good plan does both. How do you know how many calories you are burning? Its very hard to track when you are lifting weights.
I'm wearing a heart rate monitor that syncs to my phone and tells me how many calories I'm burning.

Remember that as you get in better shape, you're going to burn fewer calories. More than likely, you're lighter than what you were when you first started, and probably working out more efficiently.

while you're waiting around do high knees, jumping jacks, toe taps, burpees....etc. That's what I do on my upper body days in between my lifts.
