No, beauty is not in the eye of the beholder. If it was fat people would get as many dates as everyone else. But they don't.

This is nonsense. Bodyfat and muscle mass are 2 completely separate things. It's perfectly possible to have lots of muscle that others can't actually see because it's hidden under the sea of fat.

you do look buff and burly. Not soft and spongy.

Photo shop... I don't really run hill sprints in 100+ heat index and lift 6 days per week. Nor do I study nutrition from the leading sports departments like Ohio state, lsu, penn state, instead getting all info from men's fitness and 30 day abs.

I did, however, shave my beard

Pro-bodybuilders are bad examples because they juice which allows them to get leaner faster than normal people.

Perhaps they're in the process of losing the weight, while adding some muscle?

For all you know, those guys used to be 300 pounds and have already lost a hundred.

I resemble that remark. There is nothing wrong with being strong and a little overweight. I think it is more attractive than the scrawny runner's build. So does my wife. She might like me a little thinner but it's not going to happen. We all have the genetics we're born with and there is only so much you can do to change it.
