I have been wearing an Asics brand running type shoe. The gel Asics are well over $100. That is fine but I am wondering if a true training style shoe marketed for cross fitters is a better choice. I wear orthopedic insoles so the Asics are very accommodating. I exercise at a Y with a wooden type floor.
Thanks!

I wear running shoes for my workout needs. They are just so much more comfortable for me than any type of cross training shoe. But that is just me. I think it is very individual.
If you want to save some bucks on your Asics try to find last years models. You can save some bucks doing that. Also, Mizuno, Brooks, Saucony are other great running shoes. Just look for the sales of the older ones. If you are not using them for running you do not need to get the top model.

I think Asics are generally somewhat more comfortable, but Brooks and Mizuno seem more durable and solid.

I had the Brooks Ghost 8's and although I don't run, I walk 3 - 5 miles a day, mostly on sidewalks, and the soles did not wear out, unlike my New Balances. What finally gave out on my Brooks were the uppers. I now have the Ghost 9--even more comfortable. Even though I walk, I was told that running shoes are best.
