However, during the morning I eat 2 slices of wonder bread with my fried eggs. I sometimes eat subs as well which contain white bread. Can eating white bread stop my fitness gains?

Maybe it won't directly stop your fitness gains, but eating white bread is horrible for many reasons. Big one for me is that it offers no nutritional value. Empty calories, lots of calories for so little nutrition.

But this is a micro issue, worry about the macro, the big picture before you analyze every little bit of your life.

fyi
White bread is chemically bleached, that is why it is white.

There are 36 carbs from the bread alone.

How much carbs you need depends on your goals, muscle gain vs fat loss?

Calculate your recommended carbs

I've seen people take the bread off of sandwiches to eat them.

The white bread has little nutritional value, but if your overall caloric intake is in line then it doesn't really matter. I don't really care about counting carbs. I ate (and continue to eat) probably 200+mg of carbs per day and lost fat.

I would probably skip wonder bread because the ingredient list doesn't actually resemble bread. But that is just me! I prefer bread that is closer to water, flour and optional: yeast, fat and salt.

I can't stand the taste of most commercial breads anymore, plus as you can see by the label, they are full of garage.

I make my own bread, mostly in the winter. It's not that difficult, and you can make it with things that are good for your body.

That label is for Ezekiel Cinnamon Raisin Bread, FYI (not Wonder Bread or white bread).

If you're gonna eat store bought bread, Ezekiel is one of the better choices. The regular whole grain Ezekiel bread has less carbs (15 g/slice vs. 18 g/slice), plus no sugar.

I'm not a no-carb Nazi, but that is a very specific muscular physique that would require a very precisely designed diet, and whatever carbs you'd be allowed to eat would entail little to no bread, certainly no white bread, and for sure no Wonder Bread or sub/hoagie bread from your typical chain sandwich shop.

Wonder Bread is full of chemicals, preservatives and emulsifiers...sodium stearoyl lactylate, mono/diglycerides, diacetyl tartaric acid ester of mono/diglycerides, calcium sulfate, calcium propionate, azodicarbonamide, a bunch of GMO soy, etc. etc.

Also, high fructose corn syrup, which I think is 3rd or 4th on the ingredients list.

How bad is white bread?

Let's just say, you're probably better off eating a chocolate bar or ice cream.

Eat whole wheat brain with no added high fructose syrup or hundreds of perservatives.

True and I would rather have the chocolate or the ice cream than plain old bread.

Do an experiment. Stop eating it for a month solid and see if it helps you progress towards your goals.
