Lately my asthma has gotten really bad (even with medication), but I want to stay in shape and be healthy, and look good.

Do other asthmatics have advice on how to deal with wheezing, coughing, and inability to breathe while working out?

Hi Hapa! I am also asthmatic. How intense is your inability to breathe while working out? What kind of working out are you doing? I can walk/run 5km daily without having a difficultly in breathing. My usual triggers are dusts and pollution.

I run 4 miles almost everyday (usually) on the treadmill, but I always have to stop and use my inhaler halfway through. I have moderate to severe asthma depending on the day, and I have the same triggers as you: dust, pollution, smoke, but also some plants, and even being near dogs and cats causes my airways to tighten.

I'm hoping that my doctor can put me on a stronger medication so I can breathe normally when working out, because running is not fun when you have to struggle to breathe!
