Pretty much EVERYTHING that has ever appeared on a DVD can now be found online (youtube usually). Cant you just stream on your phone (which is waaaaaaay smaller than a DVD player)?
Seriously, OP.
What gives? Are you that much concerned with what others will think of you? Tell you what: half will think you are an idiot, half will think - what a smart guy, how come I didn't think about this before.
As you get the gist of exercise, you will need no video guidance. DVD will be simply a temporary and inexpensive way to learn the basics. Thereafter - you WILL have to improvise anyway.
Just be respectful of others, no loud noises, etc. And, if someone approaches you and respectfully offers help or guidance - accept with gratitude.
What ukroz said. OP, If it works and it helps you learn the workout, do it. Who cares what other people think?
I used to do a similar thing with a Dell PDA and a 64GB Flash cartridge (mucho expensivo about 10 years ago). Copy the disk to the PC (there are various DVD-video ripping tools out there that will strip away CSS and all that crap), convert to straight MPEG2 and load it all up on the cartridge then hit the gym. Worked fine for me.
Now somebody bringing a laptop to the gym to play their video... that would be a bit much.
You would look insanely ridiculous and clueless. I think I saw someone using a giant ipad before.
Just use your smarthone to look up the proper exercise. I do it all the time. You don't want to bring a DVD player around all those heavy weight that can drop on it. Even a 10 pound weight dropped at the right height could crack it.
great ideasm thanks! I can only find short workout examples on youtube, they shouw you the the equipment but its not an actual complete workout. perhaps i need to research more.
